Wendover U3A is a registered charity 1083897
Our u3a has to comply with the legislation and guidance which applies to all charities. Each year Wendover u3a submits a return to the Charity Commission with details of its financial accounts and answers questions about how it is run and the policies it has adopted.
The Third Age Trust,
Is the national body. It works through a series of regional groups. Wendover u3a is a member of the Thames Valley Network (TVN). This groupthis group is comprised of u3a groups inBuckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. TVN provides support and advice for individual groups. It is a channel for communication of local concerns to the national body and a means of informing local groups of national initiatives. TVN also arranges a number of talks and seminars about subjects which may be of interest to u3a members.
A Brief History of Wendover u3a.
In 2000 there was a notice in the local paper concerning a proposal to start an educational organisation for older people in Wendover.
The meeting took place in the library room one afternoon.
We were told that U3A stood for University of the Third Age, and as we were all retired, we were the third age.
